Different Press Brake Tool Types

Press Brake Machine

Before going ahead and purchasing any metal press or bending machines, it is a great idea to have a better grasp of what you are committing yourself to. Press brakes are the type of machine that requires a lot of experience and knowing how to work properly and efficiently.

Main Styles of Press Brake

Every press brake style is distinct, and the type of press brake tooling required will be determined by the kind of press brake you have and the job you are considering. The American, European, and New Standard systems are the most popular tooling systems.

Tooling System: American

This press brake tooling system is ideal for those that require a quick setup. The presses it produces are a self-seating notch that clamps, sits, and aligns itself when a button is pressed. Safety systems will then make vertical loading and unloading of tools in the clamping system when changing is required

Tooling System: European

This press brake tooling is sold along with brand new press machines. Because it is a much earlier style of tool system, the European system has some limitations. It will typically include a punch adapter or holder which extends for shorter punches, minimising the need for force.

Tooling System: New Standard

This press brake tooling system incorporates both earlier and current tool press technology. It aids in increasing the speed required for precise and long-lasting punches, allowing it to be more versatile. It can also extend the punches' elevation and is currently the most accurate tool available.

Types of Press Brake Tools

American Precision Press Brake Tooling

Features a span of 0.50-inch shanks and possesses a winged look. It will work well with a press brake laser safety system.

Bevelled Punch Tang Style

It is used with the Amada bevelled tang style press brake tooling system, where the tang or shank features a slant that properly fits onto the receiving clamp.

European-Precision Style Press Brake Tooling

It has a width of 13 millimetres and features a rectangular notch on the side facing the operator

Wila Trumpf Tooling

It has a width of 20 millimetres with a groove both on its front and rear. Each form of tooling style you use with your hydraulic press brake will vary depending on the project.

Knowing these main styles and various types of dies will benefit you in many ways.
